College of Engineering and Computer Science Open House
DESS hosts a College Open House/Reception during the fall and spring terms each year. This event provides students with information about the programs that the College has to offer and showcases exciting student projects, such as the human-powered submarine and the formula SAE race car. Attendess have an oportunity to learn more about the services that DESS offers – including free tutoring, scholarship and internship opportunities – and meet with advisors from each of the departments within the College.

Engineers Week
FAU is a proud participant of National Engineers Week. Every February the College of Engineering and Computer Science sponsors various student and community outreach activities in an effort to increase awareness about the profession of engineering and to honor the achievements of engineers.

During the 2008 event, several fun activities were hosted to commemorate this special occasion. Some of the activities included a kick-off brunch where students received five-star treatment as professors served them fine cuisine, a Mardi Gras style celebration, with carnival games, an engineering student project showcase, and a student engineering club marketplace.

Another fun activity was a "Deal or No Deal" style engineering game hosted by a department professor dressed as Howie Mandel where teams of students competed for first place and Mechanical Engineering emerged as the 2008 champions. The event concluded with a panel discussion with a group of FAU engineering alumni and professional engineers from local firms sharing their experiences and answering questions about their respective professions.
